Hello and we’re back to Germany analyzing the musical theater scene. It’s been an open secret how Germany is into musicals and opera so it’s not surprising that this will not be the first time we’d be exploring which productions are worth buying into. I already wrote about Hamburg than you can read here. And for this article, we shift our eyes to Bremen.
After causing a sensation in South America, the hit dance musical “Bailando” takes its talents to Bremen. It tells the story about Chica, a Cuban dancer whose adventures are interpreted in different dance genres.
From the heart-breaking Cuban bachata to Hawaiian Tahitian dance to that Prohibition-era staple called jazz, it’s a story heavily dependent on dance to move the story forward. Even Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” makes the playlist. Eye-popping video projections, acrobatic dance routines and no less than 250 costumes ensure a hot spanking treat for dance enthusiasts everywhere.
The Bremen show is just for one-night only dated February 12, 2015. You might as well click here to get tickets while supplies last.
Now who would have thought the King himself would end up having a musical of his own? It should not be surprising anymore as The King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, will always be alive to his still rabid fanbase. So it is only sensible that a musical in homage to the late great hip-shaking sex symbol be done.
Featuring Grahame Patrick in the title role, he is accompanied by a 3-girl chorus as the musical explores the life of Elvis. In a 2-hour homage, excerpts from his 1973 concert in Hawaii are included in the highlight reel.
Tickets for the Bremen leg this February 15, 2015 can be purchased by clicking here. Never too late for a memorable Valentine’s treat, huh? With “Throwback” being the rage, tributes in the form of musicals really hit it off well with the baby boomers.
And speaking of “Throwback”, it’s also worth mentioning how 3 brothers from Italy ended up getting labeled as “The Italian Bee Gees”. Yes, the Gibb family authorized this production as homage to the original Bee Gees. This gave the Egiziano brothers the opportunity to keep the memory of the 70’s alive.
The Bremen leg of their tour will be held on February 28, 2015. Click here to get tickets while supplies last.
What really is in Bremen that nostalgia-based musicals seem to be the rage? Even The Beatles get their musical-as-homage thing going on. And in this case, the folks behind this production used the Fab Four’s own songs to present the story through “All You Need Is Love – Das Beatles Musical”.
Divided into 2 acts, “All You Need Is Love” starts from the roots of the Beatles to the euphoria caused by “Sgt Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band” to the falling out that broke a lot of hearts. It must have been hard to guess which songs made it to the playlist as it would serve as the tools to present how the Beatles came to be that music legends that they are today.
“All You Need Is Love – Das Beatles Musical” will be staged in Bremen in March 3, 2015. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here.
And of course, Das Phantom der Oper, the musical that transcended language and culture. The German language edition gets performed in Bremen too. The Bremen locales get to relive the thrilling seduction all over again on March 4, 2015. Tickets are available for purchase by clicking here.
