The German language version of perhaps the greatest underdog sports movie ever filmed, Rocky Das Musical (Rocky The Musical) is now showing in Hamburg. Based on the Academy Award winning film written by Sylvester Stallone, it tells the story of Rocky Balboa and his stroke of luck in a sport that he didn’t take seriously until he needed the help of badass trainer Mickey. It’s currently showing at Operettenhaus Hamburg.
Just like Rocky, the theater in which it will be staged sounded like an underdog story in itself. Originally named “Circus Gymnasticus” when it opened in 1841, it eventually got renamed as Operettenhaus in 1920. It eventually managed to keep a balance between the modern and the traditional. Such features made it an ideal place for musicals and concerts.
Still going strong, play dates until February can still be seen on the Stage Entertainment website. Click here to see which dates fitted your schedule along with the rest of the details.
