Following its acclaimed 2014-2016 run and a poignant final show at the Music Museum in February 2020, San Pedro Calungsod: The Musical is poised to captivate audiences anew with its official cast album, launching in May 2025. This release immortalizes the musical’s stirring narrative of faith, sacrifice, and martyrdom, bringing its message to a global audience.
Leading the album is Filipino theater icon Gerald Santos, reprising his role as San Pedro Calungsod, the young Filipino missionary martyred in 17th-century Guam. Santos, also a composer for the production, delivers breathtaking performances in tracks like “I Offer My Life” and “The Journey,” channeling Calungsod’s devotion with his internationally celebrated vocals.

The album features 18 tracks crafted by Antonino Rommel Ramilo, the musical’s librettist and director, whose work ensures historical fidelity and emotional depth. Returning cast members, including Kuya Manzano (Father Diego Luis de San Vitores), Hutch Perales (Matapang), Lablin Layson “Vince” Vicentuan (Choco), Oscarlito JR Baccol (Hirao), and Heidi Arima (Mother), enrich the recording with their dynamic performances. Newcomers Donyl Alcantara, Mark Jhonsen Moises Bognot, Jesu Miguel Tan, Maria Krischellei Robles, and Francheska Danielle Delica infuse fresh vitality.
The musical, a recipient of the 2020 Aliw Award for Best Musical Revival and multiple BroadwayWorld Philippines honors—including Best Performer of the Decade for Santos and Stage Direction of the Decade for Ramilo—resonates with spiritual and dramatic power. “This album is a mission,” Santos shares. “It carries Pedro Calungsod’s legacy of faith and courage.”

Available on major streaming platforms, the album invites listeners to experience a transformative journey. Whether revisiting the live production or encountering Calungsod’s story anew, this release promises to inspire and uplift. In May 2025, let the music of a saint’s life awaken your spirit.
