What's Seussical really about?
Seussical is a story of a boy who believes and thinks a lot. He was able to create "thinks" like The Jungle of Nool and Whoville and got involved in it. Seussical simply tells us that we are free to dream, we can believe in "thinks" that are out of this world and that... anything's possible.
Who are you in the play? What did you learn from your character?
As a Who...
I'm one of the Whos, villagers of Whoville. We are tiny little people living in the tiniest planet and we are unseen because we are so tiny. I learned that it is hard to be unseen by others. You live, you exist, but nobody notices or you shout, cry for help, but nobody hears.
I'm one of the Jungle animals in the Jungle of Nool. We just go with the flow. I learned that a normal citizen of a place should not only believe in what seems right. Each and every person should have an individual mind like Horton, who fought for the Whos to save them.
Learned anything from the play?
"A Person's a person, no matter how small..." and "Anything's possible"
What's the audience saying?
They were usually kids... and teens and I think they did love the show. The costumes were really bright and colorful, the set was magical and the characters were lovable. So far we had very good and positive feedback.
Did you put much of yourself into the character?
I could say that my childlike side came out because I had to be a bit comical, plus I had to sound like a munchkin from The Wizard of Oz. I had fun doing it :D
How was the rehearsing process?
The most challenging part for me was the rehearsals... I'm not really a dancer and I haven't danced for years so that was the biggest challenge. I soon had to do dancing, acting and singing at the same time as the rehearsals went on. It was also a challenge to picture yourself as an imaginary character by a little boy.
As the lyrics say... Is anything possible?
Yes anything's possible! You just have to believe in yourself and do your best.
