Last April 22, 2015, Mirvish Productions just posted on their official Facebook page the full cast for their summer offering – “Kinky Boots The Musical”. Based on the book by Harvey Fierstein and music by Grammy Award winning artist Cyndi Lauper (who also won a Tony for Best Score for this his musical), performances are set to begin on June 16 at the Royal Alexandria Theatre.

The iconic role of Lola has been bestowed upon Broadway veteran Alan Mingo Jr. He was previously cast on the national tour editions of Shrek, The Lion King and Rent. Now the role of the shoe factory owner Charlie Price was earned by Ontario native Graham Scott Fleming. He was previously seen in Canadian productions of Next to Normal, Forever Plaid and Avenue Q.

The rest of the cast that made the cut include AJ Bridel (Lauren), Daniel Williston (George), Nicola Dawn Brook, Thomas Alderson, Patrick Cook, Andre Anthony, Dan Domenech, David Houle, Lisa Horner, David Lopez, Julia McIellan, Stewart Adam McKensy, Kristen Peace, Andrew Scanton, Erica Peck, David Silvestri, Jivaro Smith, Geoff Stevens, Justin Stadnyk, Madeleine Suddaby, Cleopatra Williams, Jesse Weafer, Sandy Weafer, Sandy Winsby and Ryan Wilson.

“Miss Saigon” West End is still going strong. But it will soon be joined by someone in replacement of Rachelle Ann Go for the role of hardened Dreamland stripper Gigi. Enter another Filipina – Natalie Mendoza. Ms. Lea Salonga herself confirmed this on her entertainment column at the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Mendoza was previously seen on West End playing the iconic Philippine first lady Imelda Marcos in the hit musical “Here Lies Love”. Technically, she already got cast in “Miss Saigon before. That was for the Sydney edition of the Madame Butterfly-inspired musical. So it must have been written in the stars for Mendoza to get into Miss Saigon West End anniversary edition after all.

The roles of The Engineer (played by Jon Jon Briones) and Eva Noblezada (Kim) are retained. Tickets for the next playdates of Miss Saigon West End at Prince Edward Theatre can be purchased by clicking here.
