Can you stream Hamilton, and where?

Yes. The only official full-length video of Hamilton streams on Disney+, which lists it as a 2020 release, rated PG-13, with a running time of 2 hours 40 minutes (Disney+). You need a Disney+ subscription; it is not a separate rental.

A few practical notes. Availability can vary by country, so check the Disney+ page in your own region before you settle in. The PG-13 rating reflects language and some suggestive material, which lines up with the stage show’s own advice that it suits ages 10 and up. And no, Hamilton is not on Netflix: Disney won the film rights, and the movie has stayed on its service.

What exactly is the Hamilton movie on Disney+?

It is not a reimagined film like the screen versions of Les Mis or Into the Woods. It is a filmed stage performance, edited together from three performances at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in June 2016 with the original principal Broadway cast, shortly before Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr. and others left the production. Disney originally planned a cinema release for October 2021, then moved it straight to Disney+ on July 3, 2020.

That makes it a time capsule of the company that made the show a phenomenon: Miranda as Hamilton, Odom as Burr, Phillipa Soo as Eliza, Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica, Daveed Diggs as Lafayette and Jefferson, and Christopher Jackson as Washington. Director Thomas Kail filmed it with close-ups that no theater seat can offer, and there is a one-minute intermission so you can put the kettle on. It also won two Primetime Emmys, including Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded).

Where is Hamilton playing on Broadway?

Hamilton plays at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, 226 West 46th Street, where it opened in August 2015 and is now celebrating ten years in an open-ended run. The show runs 2 hours 45 minutes, including intermission. The official site also notes that Christopher Jackson, the original Washington, has returned to the role through January 3.

Buy from official sellers only. The New York page names the Hamilton website, the Richard Rodgers box office, Broadway Direct, Ticketmaster, Broadway.com, TodayTix and Telecharge, and warns that any other seller carries a high risk of fraudulent tickets. If you see a seat for hundreds or thousands of dollars on a site you have never heard of, walk away. The box office is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with shorter Sunday hours, and orders are capped at eight tickets.

Where is the Hamilton US tour right now?

The North American tour is working its way through Florida before heading north for the winter. These are the current and next stops, as listed on the official tour page (hamiltonmusical.com) and confirmed by the Broadway League’s tour listing (Broadway.org).

Is Hamilton still in the West End?

Yes. Hamilton plays at the Victoria Palace Theatre on Victoria Street, and the theater’s owner lists it as booking until 2 October 2027 (Delfont Mackintosh). Performances run Monday to Saturday at 7.30pm, with 2.30pm matinees on Thursday and Saturday, and a special schedule over Christmas. The London show also runs about 2 hours 45 minutes, including a 15-minute interval.

London’s rules are stricter than you might expect: the show is recommended for ages 10 and up, everyone needs their own ticket, under-16s must sit next to an adult aged 18 or over, and children under 3 are not admitted. If you have seen the Disney+ film, the London staging will feel familiar but newly alive, which is a good argument for doing both.

How do you get cheaper Hamilton tickets?

The single best tip is the lottery. In New York and on tour, the Ham4Ham lottery offers $10 tickets for every performance. According to the official lottery pages, it works like this:

  • Entries open at 10 a.m. every Friday and close at noon the following Thursday, for the next week’s performances (local time).
  • Enter through the official Hamilton app or the lottery link on HamiltonMusical.com (Hamilton tour lottery, Playbill).
  • Winners are notified on Thursday afternoon and have two hours to claim and pay.
  • Each winner may buy up to two tickets, and you must be 18 or over with matching photo ID.

In London, the official site runs a weekly £10 lottery in partnership with TodayTix. Entries open at 12.01am on Fridays and close at 1pm the following Thursday, and each draw is a chance to buy one or two £10 tickets for the next week’s performances (Hamilton London lottery, London Theatre).

Beyond the lottery, flexibility pays. Midweek performances usually have better availability, the New York site releases last-minute tickets on a rolling basis, and groups of 10 or more get special rates in both cities. What you should never do is buy from an unofficial reseller: both the Broadway and London pages warn that those tickets may be fake.
