Thank You YOUTUBE ! Just saw “Kinky Boots” at the 5th Ave Theater in
Seattle yesterday. What a fun production, especially the song “Not My
Fathers Son” and the choreography with the 4 individual assembly line
belts, going different directions, and the dancers hoping on and off.
WOW. Seattle HAS a first Class musical stage !

    AMAZING. Great show.

I LOVE this show, but I think Sex is in the Heel or Raise You Up/Just Be
would be better fits for the Tony performance.

I love how Lena Hall comes out at the very end for the last chorus lol,
despite her character not being in this number.

That’s soo typical. When someone wins an award then the others starts to
complain… So let me tell you something: Music is not only words and
lyrics, ok it is important but there’s much more on it, every musical notes
together creates something magical. And the ideia on this song is: Well
Charlie needs to cheer up the factory employees and call them to make the
BIG diference to save the factory. So a “simple” everybody say yeah “IT IS
GOOD ENOUGH” because there soo much more things on it. So face it: Kinky
boots is a wonderful, beautiful musical.

I thought this show was incredible, but Matilda will always be superior to
me. I mean, the way Tim Minchin fit the entire alphabet in School Song just
absolutely blew my mind. Matilda’s music is just infectious and so smart

뉴욕에서 봤던 킨키부츠가 눈 앞에서 떠나지를 않는다. 올해 하반기에 국내 라이센스로 공연 시작한다는데 꼭 보러가야지. 지금 오디션
    진행중이라는데 기대된다.

This to me wasn’t the best choice for the Tony’s but they win so I guess
    it’s moot now

Since I couldn’t get an “Amen” for my post about global climate change, can
I at LEAST get a “Yeah, Yeah!” for the LGBTQers??? o_O

yea all the other songs have so much more potential! The lyrics for the
song sung in the bathroom before this number made me cry!

This really isn’t the song to judge the entire musical on.

  19. Adam Davy
    March 22, 2015 at 5:28 pm #

And you can’t judge the “heart” of the show until you see Billy Porter and
Stark Sands in those roles. ‘Best musical’ is about more than just the raw
    material of the show.

Fair point, but I just think the repetition in this one is a bit much, like
i said previously I think the show looks good and fun, and since i made
that comment I have listened to the whole soundtrack and still don’t think
it is in anyway close to the same league as Matilda, but nvm

Ehh when I saw this it was one of my favorites, but yes, I say “Not My
Father’s Son” or “Raise It Up” would be better to perform.

The sophistication of the actual music in Kinky Boots I find superior to
Matilda. Matilda has more of a through-line but it’s written to be more
farcical music than Kinky Boots. Plus the presentation of Kinky Boots is
fantastic. Matilda is a very good show, but Kinky Boots deserved the title.

You have to remember this isn’t the only song in the show. I’m pretty sure
every show has a song where they say the same thing over and over again.

    March 22, 2015 at 7:23 pm #

Oh don’t get me wrong, I love this song (or the uncut version anyway), but
you have to admit the lyrics are less than impressive.

I like the film, I like the story, I have heard the music and just think
its a fun musical, I just feel Matilda has more heart!

Didn’t think I’d get emotional when I saw the show but when young Charlie
and Lola came back on stage and hugged their dads, that got me

Truth be told, my dream role is Charlie from “Kinky Boots”
My favorite musical by a landslide. Great music + great message +
unforgettable character + fun + heartwarming story

Love KINKY BOOTS, and am looking forward to seeing it next month…but I
still wish MATILDA had won Best Musical, and I think Tim Minchin should’ve
    won over Cyndi Lauper.

Sorry I’ve never watched this before, what’s the show about? Is it
    literally about boots?
(I got here by dance moms, they had a dance inspired by this)

They be rockin them boots! It was funny meeting them all afterward
especially charlie sutton who played a drag queen. He had to do the splits
in a song with heels on. They were all sweethearts to us but out of them
all annaleigh was the sweetest to us fans.

I saw this musical on Broadway in Chicago about a little over a year ago
for a field trip and I loved it. I wished I would of been able to get a DVD
of the performance but I didn’t. I would love to see this musical again on
Broadway. (I think the Broadway performance is so much better than the
    movie, no doubt about it.)
